Congressman Dan Kildee on his Attendance at the Inauguration of President-Elect Trump
Congressman Dan Kildee (MI-05) issued the following statement on the Inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump:
“I share the disgust of many Americans with President-elect Trump’s dangerous actions and rhetoric during the campaign and since being elected. The question I have had to ask myself is: what is the best way for me to fight against a new President that wants to take our country in the wrong direction? The people in my district elected me to work and be there – to be in my seat. I believe the best way for me to hold Donald Trump accountable is to be at the inauguration, be present and use my voice to speak loudly in opposition to the new President and his policies.”
“On Friday, I will witness the peaceful transfer of power that is the foundation of our democracy. The next day, I will march with thousands of Michiganders at the Women’s March in our nation’s capital to speak out against President Trump’s dangerous policies and rhetoric.”
