Press Release

FLINT – Congressman Dan Kildee (MI-05) today reminded those applying for nomination to a U.S. Service Academy that the deadline to submit their application is this week, Thursday, September 15, 2016. Students who are interested should visit the Congressman’s website to submit the application. Applicants need to submit the following with their application: Three letters of recommendation, a high school transcript with ACT or SAT scores, a resume and a one page essay on why they want to attend. Each year, Congressman Kildee’s Academy Nomination Committee reviews applications and interviews fully qualified applicants before Congressman Kildee nominates a group of highly qualified Michigan students to attend the U.S. Military Academy, the U.S. Naval Academy, the U.S. Air Force Academy and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. The honor of attending a Service Academy comes with an obligation and commitment to serve in the military for a minimum of five years upon graduation.
