Congressman Dan Kildee on Report the State Knew of PFAS in Flint River Before Water Switch

August 27, 2018

Congressman Dan Kildee (MI-05) released the following statement today after a report showed the state of Michigan knew of Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) in the Flint River before the city's drinking water source was switched:

"When deciding whether to switch Flint's drinking water supply to the Flint River, the Snyder Administration should have told local officials that toxic PFAS chemicals were found in the river. It will be rightfully hard for the people of Flint to trust the state of Michigan when the Snyder Administration has repeatedly withheld information about the water quality in Flint."
