Congressman Kildee Announces $250,000 Federal Grant to Local Mid-Michigan Health Center

WASHINGTON—Congressman Dan Kildee (MI-05), Chief Deputy Whip of the House Democratic Caucus, announced today a $250,000 federal grant will be awarded to Hamilton Community Health Network, a local community health center in the Fifth Congressional District.

The federal grant, awarded through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Health Center Cluster program, will support the continuation of primary care, dental and behavioral health care services to families, particularly those who are medically underserved or veterans, during the ongoing pandemic.

"I am proud to announce this federal funding that will help provide access to affordable and high-quality health care services in our district," Congressman Kildee said. "Community health centers are on the front lines and we must make sure they have the resources they need to serve patients and combat the spread of coronavirus. I will continue to work in Congress to bring critical resources to mid-Michigan."

Last month, Congressman Kildee voted in support of theConsolidated Appropriations Act of 2021, a nearly $1 trillion emergency relief package to support American workers, families and small businesses during the pandemic. The package extended the Community Health Center funding for three years and provides billions in urgently needed funds to accelerate the free and equitable distribution of safe vaccines to as many Americans as soon as possible. This relief package also implements a strong national testing and tracing strategy with billions reserved specifically for combating the disparities facing communities of color, and to support our heroic health care workers.
