Congressman Kildee Announces Leave of Absence of Mitchell Rivard

June 21, 2016
Press Release

Congressman Dan Kildee (MI-05) announced today that Mitchell Rivard will take a leave of absence from his congressional office, starting July 1, 2016.  Rivard, Congressman Kildee’s Deputy Chief of Staff and Communications Director, is taking a leave of absence to move back to Detroit and be the Michigan Communications Director for a presidential campaign. “Mitchell is a media savvy and talented communicator who has been a close adviser and invaluable part of my team,” Congressman Kildee said. “Born in Bay City, I know Mitchell has always had a deep commitment to his job because of his Michigan connections, and I know that his strong passion will continue to drive his work in this new role. I wish him all the best in the coming months ahead and look forward to welcoming him back to my congressional office later this year.” Rivard, a native of Bay City, Mich., has served on Congressman Kildee’s staff since he was elected in 2013. Prior to joining Kildee’s congressional office, Rivard served in various press roles in both Washington, D.C. and Michigan, including at the U.S. Department of Justice and for former Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm. He is a graduate of Michigan State University. Starting July 1st, Jennifer Cox, Congressman Kildee’s Chief of Staff, will handle media inquiries for Congressman Kildee in Rivard’s absence. Cox can be reached by email at Jennifer.Cox@mail.house.gov or by telephone at 202-225-3611.
