Kildee Announces Federal Funding to Increase Children’s Access to Quality, Affordable Health Care
New Funding Will Provide Five Schools with Two New Mobile Health Centers
FLINT—Congressman Dan Kildee, Chief Deputy Whip of the House Democratic Caucus, today announced a new federal grant to provide five Michigan schools with access to mobile health centers to provide high-quality, comprehensive health care to the community.
The $200,000 grant, awarded through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), will help Sterling Area Health Center establish two new mobile health units that will provide access to comprehensive medical services for the children, their families, teachers, and staff of five public schools in rural and medically underserved areas in mid-Michigan.
"I am pleased to announce this new federal grant to help Michigan children receive high-quality, comprehensive health care," said Congressman Kildee. "Every Michigan family deserves quality, affordable health care, which is why I am focused in Congress on lowering the costs of prescription drugs and premiums."
Congressman Kildee continues to fight to ensure mid-Michigan residents have access to affordable health care, including announcing over $11 million in federal grants to fund local Community Health Centers in mid-Michigan, as well as an additional $1.4 million to specifically support regional mental health services.
