April 9, 2021

FLINT—Congressman Dan Kildee (MI-05), Chief Deputy Whip of the House Democratic Caucus, today announced $62,600 in federal grants for Tawas City and Au Gresto promote public safety, including the purchase of new patrol vehicles.

The federal grants, through the U.S. Department of Agriculture, will give $30,600 to Tawas City and $32,000 to Au Gres to purchase new patrol vehicles. These vehicles would be outfitted with safety equipment and an in-car camera. The vehicles will replace older patrol vehicles that have outlived their useful life.

"I am proud to announce these important federal grants to help make our neighborhoods safer," said Congressman Kildee. "These investments will provide Tawas City and Au Gres with the resources they need to protect our communities. By improving public safety, we can make our communities and neighborhoods stronger."

In Congress, Kildee has fought for initiatives to reduce violence and increase public safety. In October 2017, Congressman Kildee announced a $1 million federal grant from the Department of Justice to help fight violent crime and improve community safety.
