Statement by Congressman Dan Kildee on the Announcement of the EPA’s Task Force

October 16, 2015

Congressman Dan Kildee (MI-05) issued the following statement today after the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced the establishment of a task force to provide technical expertise to MDEQ and the city of Flint, which will include onsite consultants: "I welcome the EPA's announcement today that they'll be sending technical advisors to Flint to assist the city and MDEQ on site with ensuring the safety of Flint's water. The task force is a result of letters and phone calls over the past week with Administrator McCarthy and the EPA. In those communications, I repeatedly requested that the EPA send technical advisors to Flint to help with the transition of water sources. I am pleased to see that within a week the EPA has responded positively to my request, and I'm hopeful that this announcement is a step forward for the future of Flint's water."
