Statement by Congressman Dan Kildee on GOP Congress’ Inaction to Protect Americans from Public Health Crises

August 5, 2016
Press Release

Congressman Dan Kildee (MI-05) issued the following statement today joining his voice with those of his colleagues in the House and Senate calling for Speaker Ryan to reconvene the Congress to enact Zika funding: “Many serious public health crises threaten Americans today, including the Zika virus and the Flint water crisis. There are currently 6,408 confirmed Zika cases in the United States and its territories and the people of Flint still cannot drink their tap water without a filter. Despite this, Republicans neglected their duty to protect public health and left town as they continue to ignore the real danger that these crises pose to American families. “There is no time to waste, the American people cannot wait until September. Congress needs do its job and act on legislation to bring resources to protect American families from the Zika virus and the Flint water crisis. The American people deserve better than this.”
