Statement by Congressman Dan Kildee on House Passage of Bills to Reopen the Government

Congressman Dan Kildee (MI-05), Chief Deputy Whip, released the following statement after a New Democratic Majority in the U.S. House of Representatives passed two bills to end the Trump Shutdown and reopen the government:

"The new Democratic majority on its first day passed legislation to end the Trump Shutdown and immediately reopen the government. My constituents are frustrated that our government is broken, and so am I. We cannot govern from one manufactured crisis to the next, which threatens our economy and the strength of our nation.

"The Senate already voted to reopen the government in the last Congress. Senate Majority Leader McConnell should put the bills on the floor immediately and send them to the President's desk."
