Statement from Congressman Dan Kildee on Investment to Clean Up Toxic Chemicals in Government Funding Bill

September 10, 2018
Press Release

Congressman Dan Kildee (MI-05) released the following statement after $14 million was included in the Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Administration spending bill to address contamination from per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS):

“PFAS chemical contamination around military bases like Wurtsmith Air Force base has seriously impacted communities in Michigan and across the country. Along with Senator Stabenow, I fought hard for Congress to allocate $14 million in federal resources to immediately begin cleaning up harmful PFAS chemicals. This investment is an important first step in cleaning up contamination and making sure that Michiganders have access to clean drinking water.”
