Statement: Congressman Dan Kildee on the Passing of Gordie Howe
Congressman Dan Kildee (MI-05) issued the following statement today on the passing of Gordie Howe: “Gordie Howe was an inspiration and role model to me and I am saddened to hear of his passing. From my childhood years playing backyard pond hockey to being one of the captains of my high school hockey team, I idolized Gordie and his career with the Detroit Red Wings. Later in life, when his son coached the Flint minor league hockey team, Gordie would often come along to watch the games. He was as nice as can be – and I know everyone played the game a bit harder when ‘Mr. Hockey’ was around. Gordie was a legend and one of the greatest hockey players of all time, and he will be sorely missed. My thoughts and prayers are with the Howe family.”
