Statement by Congressman Dan Kildee Recognizing LGBTQ Pride Month

June 1, 2021
Press Release
FLINT—Congressman Dan Kildee (MI-05), Chief Deputy Whip of the House Democratic Caucus, issued the following statement recognizing June as LGBTQ Pride Month:

June is a time to celebrate the progress we have made towards equality and to redouble our efforts to fight the injustices we see in society. Although we have made tremendous progress, we still have much work more to do. Sadly, many of our LGBTQ friends and neighbors can still be fired from their job or evicted from their home simply for who they are. This discrimination is wrong and must end.

“That’s why I proudly helped pass the Equality Act in the U.S. House of Representatives earlier this year. This legislation would provide LGBTQ individuals protection from discrimination based on who they love or how they identify themselves. I am hopeful that a few brave Senate Republicans will join with all Democrats to pass this important legislation. As we celebrate the progress we’ve made, I'm proud to continue standing with you as a strong advocate fighting for equality.”
