Statement by Congressman Dan Kildee on Relaxed Solar Tariffs

February 4, 2022

WASHINGTON—Congressman Dan Kildee (MI-05), Chief Deputy Whip of the House Democratic Caucus and member of the Ways and Means Trade Subcommittee, today issued the following statement after the Biden administration decided to relax tariffs on solar imports:

"There is overwhelming evidence that China is using illegal trade practices to manufacture solar panels, giving Chinese companies an unfair trade advantage over American workers. Allowing more imports of foreign solar panels that break trade laws undermines domestic manufacturing and American workers. I urge the Biden administration to reconsider its decision."
