Statement by Congressman Dan Kildee On Republican Attempts to Overturn Michigan’s Election Results

November 19, 2020
Press Release
WASHINGTON––Congressman Dan Kildee (MI-05), Chief Deputy Whip of the House Democratic Caucus, issued the following statement on the announcement that Michigan House Speaker Lee Chatfield (R-Levering) and Michigan Senate Majority Leader Mike Shirkey (R-Clarklake) have been summoned to the White House Friday to meet with President Donald J. Trump:

The votes have been counted and Michiganders resoundingly chose Joe Biden to be our next President. The President-elect won our state over 150,000 votes––14 times Donald Trump’s 2016 margin. Yet President Trump is actively trying to overturn the will of the American people and steal this election. History will judge Speaker Chatfield and Leader Shirkey if they support these desperate and baseless attempts to disenfranchise Michigan voters.”
