Statement by Congressman Dan Kildee on Scott Pruitt Delaying Updates to Lead and Copper Rule
Congressman Dan Kildee (MI-05) issued the following statement today after the Trump Administration’s Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) delayed creating a new lead and copper drinking water rule for the third time:
“Today’s announcement by EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt is just another example of his utter disregard for protecting public health. Time and time again, Administrator Pruitt has claimed he is working to address harmful contaminants in drinking water like lead or PFAS, but yet he continues to kick the can down the road on taking any real action to protect American families. Talk is cheap. The lead in water crisis occurring in my hometown of Flint is a man-made tragedy. If Administrator Pruitt does not act to update the Lead and Copper Rule, more water crises will continue to happen across the country.
“Scott Pruitt is unfit to lead the EPA and should either resign or be fired. In light of yet another delay by the Trump Administration, Republican leaders in Congress should immediately bring up my bill, the NO LEAD Act, and update the Lead and Copper Rule to protect public health.”
