Statement by Congressman Dan Kildee on Senate GOP Health Care Bill

"No wonder Republicans wanted to hide their health care bill from the American people. The Senate Trumpcare bill is just as bad, if not worse, as the House-passed version. Their bill is not just bad policy, it is absolutely heartless.

"The Republican health care bill will kick millions of Americans off of their health plans in order to cut taxes for the wealthy. The Republican health care bill will punish older Americans with an ‘age tax' and raise costs for families, all to give another huge break to the richest Americans. The Republican health care bill breaks President Trump's promises; it ends the guarantee of coverage for those with pre-existing conditions, steals from Medicare and guts Medicaid.

"I will work with anyone, Democrat or Republican, to improve health care. But this bill is the wrong direction for our country. I am opposed to Trumpcare and will do everything I can to defeat this bill."
