Statement by Congressman Dan Kildee on Support from FEMA

January 13, 2016
Press Release

Congressman Dan Kildee (MI-05) issued the following statement today after Michigan Governor Rick Snyder requested support from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to coordinate a recovery plan to provide resources to Flint: “Earlier today, I spoke with Andrew Velasquez III, FEMA’s Regional Director for Michigan, about resources his agency is providing to assist with the ongoing water crisis in Flint. Since September, I have requested that FEMA use its resources to help bring clean drinking water to the residents of Flint and I welcome their latest action. “I was able to talk with President Obama after the State of the Union last night and reiterate my call for federal assistance. I encourage Governor Snyder to request additional resources from the federal government, and I stand ready and willing to work with him to get Flint the help it needs. “The residents of Flint have suffered a terrible tragedy and I will tirelessly advocate to get them the resources to deal this crisis.” ###
