Statement by Congressman Dan Kildee on Trump’s Rollback of Clean Water Protections

Congressman Dan Kildee (MI-05), Chief Deputy Whip of the House Democratic Caucus, released the following statement after President Trump repealed clean water regulations to protect the environment and ensure clean water:

"At a time when communities across the country, including Flint and Oscoda, are living with unsafe drinking water, President Trump has decided to weaken protections for our water and reward corporate polluters. This short-sighted decision is an assault on the water we drink, our Great Lakes and the wetlands that support fish, ducks and other wildlife.

"The President's decision will have long-term, negative consequences to our health, our jobs and our economy. With this decision, the President is standing with his corporate backers and not America's working families. I will fight this decision and continue to work so that every family in Michigan has access to safe drinking water and is protected from corporate polluters."
