WASHINGTON––Congressman Dan Kildee (MI-05), Chief Deputy Whip of the House Democratic Caucus, issued the following statement after the Wayne County Board of Canvassers voted against certifying election results:
“Michigan voters resoundingly chose President-elect Joe Biden. He won our state by nearly 150,000 votes––14 times Donald Trump’s 2016 margin. Yet tonight, the two Republican members of the Wayne County Board of Canvassers put partisan politics above their legal duty to certify the election results. The Secretary of State has made clear there is no evidence of fraud or foul play in the administration of our recent election. Despite this unprecedented gamesmanship, the process will move forward. Under state law, Michiganders expect the Board of State Canvassers to honor the will of the voters and finish the job.”
