Statement by Congressman Kildee on Trump’s Decision to End Cost-Sharing Payments
October 13, 2017
Press Release
WASHINGTON – Congressman Dan Kildee (MI-05) issued the following statement today after President Donald Trump announced that he will end cost-sharing reduction (CSR) payments:
“President Trump's actions are pushing health insurance premiums higher in Michigan. By ending cost-sharing payments that help to lower premiums for Michigan families, the President is actively undermining our health care system and causing instability in the marketplace. President Trump's premium increases will affect hundreds of thousands of Michiganders, who in some cases could see nearly 60 percent year-over-year increases in the cost of premiums.
“Republicans must drop their obsession with repeal and instead be willing to work with Democrats to find bipartisan improvements to our system.”
