Statement by Congressman Kildee on Vote Calling for the 25th Amendment

WASHINGTON—Congressman Dan Kildee (MI-05), Chief Deputy Whip of the House Democratic Caucus, issued the following statement after voting for a privileged resolution calling on Vice President Mike Pence to immediately invoke the 25th Amendment and remove President Donald J. Trump from office:

"Donald Trump is unfit for office and a threat to the national security of the United States. He needs to be removed from office immediately. The president incited a riot at the U.S. Capitol that killed five people, including a Capitol Police officer. If supporting an insurrection against the United States government is not an impeachable offense, I do not know what is.

"If the Vice President fails to invoke the 25^th Amendment, then the U.S. House of Representatives will move today to impeach the Donald Trump."
